When a tornado tears its way through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog Toto are sent flying into a faraway land called Oz. With no known way of returning home, Dorothy’s only hope is to make the daunting journey to see the great and powerful wizard of Oz. Along the way, she meets interesting friends (and foes), some of which join Dorothy on her quest.
Today, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz retains its status as a childhood staple, as it is one of the most widely known stories in American culture and has been adapted numerous times. Baum created The Wonderful Wizard of Oz with the goal of writing a modern fairy tale for children in mind, and the idea that everyone already has what they need to do great things certainly makes itself apparent.
