The Runaway Shadows is a little known twentieth-century fantasy short story by author of the Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Baum. The Price Jack and his cousin froze their shadows and allowed them to run away. The shadows finally returned for the Prince to be crowned the new king.
Proceeds from the sale of this book help fund the donation of our specially designed children’s books to barbershops in at-risk communities nationwide. DERT’s social mission is to ensure that all children identify as readers by having access to books and being read to on a regular basis. Reading together is vital for all children through their preschool years and beyond. This DERT book was designed by Limber Zhang, a graphic designer from Beijing and currently living in New York City. Limber was a member of the Spring 2018 design team from Parsons School of Design.
