Why Roses Have Thorns

$16.99

This Native American folktale is brought to life with delightful illustrations introducing us to the world of Nanaboozhoo. The animals of the forest turn to her for help and her magical solution tells us why a rose has thorns. This myth explores the reasons as to why beautiful things in nature sometimes have parts that are not so good.

Proceeds from the sale of this book help fund the donation of our specially designed children’s books to barbershops in at-risk communities nationwide. DERT’s social mission is to ensure that all children identify as readers by having access to books and being read to on a regular basis. Reading together is vital for all children through their preschool years and beyond. DERT publishes a unique line of books and learning tools designed to engage families in reading through all stages of life.
